Essential oils are used for many things. You can use them to reduce pain, as an air freshener, add scent and healing properties to your massage oil, and curb appetite to name a few.
There are several essential oils you can sniff during the course of a day to keep your cravings down. The scent of these oils trick you brain into thinking you’ve been fed. Keep the oils you plan on using for the day close by so you can sniff them whenever you feel like snacking or even when you first start your meal. You should find that you lose some of your cravings and tend to eat less at a sitting.

Choose two or three of these oils to use during the course of your day. Change them out so you don’t use the same oils every day. I carry them to work with me, keep them in my purse when I’m out and about, and have several at the house to use.
Start with Peppermint oil. Peppermint has unique appetite weight loss properties. Peppermint is great because, not only can you sniff it, you can mix a few drops with water or some other liquid and drink it right before you eat. The appetite suppressing qualities work either way.
Be sure to check these oils for purity. The more pure the essential oils the more benefit you will get and the less you have to use. Those that you plan on eating or drinking should be marked GRAS (generally regarded as safe) or be labeled for supplement use.
Essential Oils for Weight Loss
One note of caution about sniffing essential oils. People that have Asthma or Migraines might have a problem with these scents as they would with anything else.
It is important to remember that essential oils won’t give you anything miraculous in the weight loss department. The basics of good nutrition, counting calories, getting exercise, drinking plenty of water, and getting the proper amount of rest need to be held to in order to accomplish your weight loss goal. Essential oils are a way to take your mind off your cravings and help you over the humps.
