Faith is defined as a, “confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.” It is also defined as a, “belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.” But do you know why it’s so important in our daily lives.
Faith is important because we all have to have something to believe in. Those of us with a religious faith believe in a higher power for strength and guidance. For instance, Muslims believe in Mohammed, Christians believe in God and Jesus Christ, Buddhists believe in Buddha and so on. Individuals who do not have a religious belief will often times believe totally in themselves and their own abilities exclusive of anything or anyone else.
Faith in a superior being is important for those with a religious background because it gives them an anchor. It’s a place where they can turn with the knowledge that by believing in that the diety will help them get through any situation in life. It allows them to pray for guidance, protection and other things they need. They find security in the fact that they can pray to their god(s) with a sincere and humble heart that those prayers will be answered.
If someone prays with enough faith that the prayer will be answered they can find peace, strength, healing, and financial stability. Their prayers are answered by having pathways opened to solutions for their problems and giving them the peace of mind needed to let them know anything is possible through that power.
You who live in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty, will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress; my God in whom I trust.” (Psalm 91:1-2)
” O Lord, praise to You! You are the light of the heavens and the earth and all that dwell therein. Praise to You! You are the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that dwell therein. Praise to You! You are the truth, and Your promise is true, and Your word is true, and Your meeting is true, and the Garden is true, and the Fire is true, and the Prophets were true, and Muhammad is true, and the Hour is true! O Allah, to You I commit myself, and in You I believe and place my trust, and unto You I turn in repentance, and for You I fight, and through You I pass judgment. Forgive me my sins, past and future, open and hidden. You are my God; there is no God but You! ” (Islamic quote from the Lamps of the Prophethood)
“I do not believe in a fate that falls on men however they act; but I do believe in a fate that falls on them unless they act.” (Buddha)
