Herbs have been used in traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment and prevention of cancer for many years. Researchers suggest; however, if women use herbal medicines for anything, including the treatment or prevention of breast cancer they should use caution. They should research the products they use to be sure they are high in quality and the resource is reputable. They also need to inform their physicians so there is not interaction with any other treatment they might receive.
The treatment is called “Fu Sheng Gu Ben”. Fu Sheng means strengthening what is correct. “Bu Ben” means regeneration and repair. One set of herbs is used to attack the tumor. These herbs also help the toxicity of chemotherapy. They include Chih Ko (Aurantium), E Zhu (Curcuma Zedoraria), Tao Ren (Persicae Semen) and others. A second set of herbs is used to reduce supplement deficiencies, especially in the immune energy. They include Huang Qi (Astragalus), Xi Yan Shen (American Ginseng) and Shu Di Huang (Chinese Foxglove Root). The use of anti-cancer herbs is also prevelant. They include Rie Shi and various mushrooms, Lu Feng Fang (Hornets Nest) and Long Kui (Solanum). Some miscellaneous herbs are added to pull the whole thing together. They include LuGen (Phramites) Bai Mao Gen (Imerata) and Mi Li – Oyster Shell and other shells. Each person is assessed as an individual and their herbal treatment is designed specifically for them. There are many herbs that traditional Chinese medicine uses in the treatment and prevention of cancer and this is just a partial list.
Each person reacts to herbs, medications or anything else we use differently. When dealing with herbs use one at time to make sure you don’t have an adverse reaction. This way you can determine if any of them bother you. Then start combining them into the mixture you need.
